Next day we did a
little provisioning and left around 11 to travel 15 mile to Fenelon Falls. The day was a rough one for Terry – he had
forgotten to bring his replacement contacts (called 1-800-contacts and they
will be waiting for us in Parry Sound), Fenelon Falls Lock was a zoo and there
was no place to tie onto the wall so we pressed on (first time there has been
no room at the inn). Through the lock we
saw High Spirits anchored in a great cove, Skipper Bob said there was a good
anchorage on down but as we headed there 2 different locals flagged us down and
said we were headed for rock. With
Terry’s Karma, we decided to go anchor with High Spirits—good call-- the day
started looking up. We went for a dingy
cruise with Bill and Barb for happy hour and then after dark we had fabulous
fireworks. We will stay here for a
couple of days—this is a great anchorage—we have found Center Hill North. Dingy-ed with Bill and Barb into the town,
had a great lunch at Nolan’s and found a bakery that made me gain 5 lbs. just
inhaling. We bought our first Butter
Tarts of the trip (another Canadian dish) --wonderful. We are supposed to have
5 days of perfect weather and even though we had the sweatshirts on this
morning, we are in bathing suits this afternoon. I think summer has finally arrived in
Canada. Bill has graciously shared with
Fitz his maps and charts of the Georgian Bay and the North Channel so he will
go over those on our way to Orillia where we will meet up with them again and
give them back. We noticed what we had
had very little information about anchorages so we are glad to have some
additional charts.
