Left out of
GTB early on Wed. morning with Fugitive and Harvest Moon (Ann and Jeffrey out
of New York). It was a dank and dreary
day but the temp stayed above 65 degrees and we had no locks and only passed 3
tows. We went 60 miles and had a great
anchorage at Dover Island by 4pm. This
is the water with which we are familiar. The winds had picked up but the water
was calm and the scenery, while not spectacular (yet) it promised to have colorful
foliage in the next week or so. The 3
boats rafted together and we had delightful conversation and docktails until
dark. Next is the Harpeth River then
home—we can smell it. Next morning we un-rafted
and pulled anchor around 8am in a lite rain but at least the temp was a chilly 60
degrees. The radio
stations are out of Paris, TN, Clarksville, and a few Nashville stations come
in and out. Butch Jones is on an ad for
UT football and we hear a traffic report about Granny White Pike—home. Not so fast-----Passing barge traffic here on
the Cumberland we realize that we won’t get through the Cheatham Lock until
dark so we pull over at Clarksville and spend the night.
