Flat Stanley--Holden Norris

In February 2019, Holden's Grandparents welcomed Flat Stanley to Yuma, Arizona--the sunniest city in America.

In this desert southwestern area it is also America's largest producer of lettuce (along with growing various veggies and dates). Since he was so close to the country of Mexico, they took him through the Port Andres port of Entry to the Mexican city of Los Algodones where the people have a huge sidewalk market place with a lot of clothes, purses and yard art.

He then traveled west to California. Past Joshua Tree National Park with its beautiful cactus and weird Joshua Trees (these trees have no rings to tell their age--you tell how old they are by how tall they are). Through the rocky mountains (elevation over 4,000 ft.) to San Diego, California, where he saw the sun set over the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
