A Different Kind of Cruising

This week was not supposed to be the best weather-wise but we didn’t think that would make that big of difference in our itinerary -- without the safety of the ICW it made a big difference. After making it only 15 miles out of Norfolk on Wednesday with rocky seas and gusty winds, we woke up Thursday morning with a very thick fog and a forecast of rain but not as windy. We headed to Kilmarnock, VA and Chesapeake Boat Basin Marina to wait out the weather and we have not made it but half way to the Potomac. Here we are taking a couple of days to go to the grocery store, West Marine, do some laundry, and visit a quaint little seacoast town. In My Element—a beautiful 43 ft. Fathom with really nice owners/Loopers, Bob and Debi Smith have come into the Boat Basin and we will do Happy Hour tonight and talk cruising. The plan is to leave out tomorrow (Saturday) which is supposed to be sunny but windy, we will remain flexible.
