Portsmouth/Norfolk

In the Chesapeake we say goodbye to the ICW and now we will navigate the waters as they come -- no more “magenta line” on our charts. This is a little like giving up your security blanket. We picked our way to Portsmouth—only 10 miles-- and found it fraught with heavy industrial traffic. Tidewater Marina is our home across from the big ship yard in Portsmouth and Fitz is like a kid watching cranes and dump trucks at a construction site. It is walking distance to lots of nautical museums, historic homes and restaurants. The Commodore Theatre is much like the Franklin Cinema in that you sit at a table and phone in your dinner order and watch a movie. A Million Ways to Die in the West is showing and we plan to try is out.
