After Happy Hour with the Smith’s last night we went to bed early in order to get a 7am start —and it was worth it. We awoke to dead calm winds and water and headed out as scheduled. It started out a little rocky but the waters smoothed out (we had been warned that the mouth of the Potomac would be rocky in the best situation) by 10am we were headed up the Potomac we had fun guessing what politician/lobbyist/staff had each fabulous house on the water. Terry put a route in the autopilot and so we sat back and read and listened to the NASCAR race. On the radio we caught back up to the oldies with Scott Shannon (and heard about the death of Kasey Kassom) and in honor of Father’s Day we listened to a little Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. 11 hours later we anchored in Port Tobacco River half way up the Potomac. Both kids wished Fitz a Happy Father’s Day—all is well in our world.
